Opera House drawings

This series of drawings developed around the idea of the iconic white sail forms of the Opera House and their juxtaposition to the glass, steel and concrete that wavers between carrying, and being carried by the sails.

Exploring spatialisation inherent within, around and reflected by the Sydney Opera House through graphite on paper.

Walking around the exterior of the Bennelong Restaurant, I felt drawn to the dark, space-age-like geometric formation of the glazing and the disjointed reflections they held of their surroundings. The contrast between the sculptured off-form concrete (coated in off-white Swedish tiles) and the angular glass walls, became the focal point of this series of drawings.
